September marks a significant landmark for Stephen Ainsworth, our Senior Partner, since he is celebrating the completion of fifty years of service with the BWCI Group and its antecedent businesses. It was in 1973 that Stephen joined the London Practice of Bacon & Woodrow as a young actuarial trainee before qualifying as an actuary and being seconded to Guernsey in 1979 to establish a local branch there. That temporary secondment turned into a permanent posting as the small branch grew and developed over the years to become the independent BWCI Group, encompassing actuaries, consultants, trustees and administrators. He also led the move for BWCI to join Abelica Global, the international network of consultants and actuaries, and went on to lead that organisation as its chair. As Stephen commented “I have never had to apply for another job ever since joining Bacon & Woodrow fifty years ago, as my varied role over the years within BWCI has provided constant new opportunities and challenges. It has been a privilege to have been involved in every aspect of the business and to see it grow from strength to strength.” BWCI’s Managing Partner, Diana Simon, responded “This is a remarkable achievement and we celebrate Stephen’s endurance and work ethic. He is an inspiration to us all.”
